Contact us
Email support@dfr.guru. To help us resolve your issue on the first reply, please include:
- Which app and which water you were using (for example, Steinhatchee).
- Your device model and iOS version — Settings → General → About.
- The app version, shown at the bottom of the app’s settings screen.
- What you expected to happen, and what happened instead.
- A screenshot, if the problem is something you can see.
Please do not send your Apple Account password, payment details, or any other credentials. We never need them and will never ask for them.
Customer support by text message
Customers may request ordinary product support by texting START to (877) 853-5454. Before sending a text, review the complete SMS Customer Support Consent. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of purchase. This is a customer-care program, not an emergency or marketing service.
Multilingual AI Help Room for callbacks and setup
If the customer is reporting from another language, or you need callback instructions fast, we now have one handoff path for setup support. Use the AI Help Room to standardize the request, include best callback language, and share a callback script that staff can read quickly.
The selected language is passed directly to the AI Help Room handoff form to keep callback instructions clear and consistent.
Subscription and billing help
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple, not by us. That means some things must be done on Apple’s side.
| What you need | Where to do it |
|---|---|
| Cancel your subscription | Settings → your name → Subscriptions, select the app, then Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. |
| Request a refund | reportaproblem.apple.com — we cannot issue refunds directly. |
| Paid, but features are locked | Tap Restore Purchases in the app while signed in to the same Apple Account you bought with. If it still fails, email us. |
| Use it on your other device | Sign in to the same Apple Account and tap Restore Purchases. One subscription covers all your devices. |
| See what you were charged | Your Apple purchase history, at reportaproblem.apple.com. |
| End a free trial early | If a free trial is offered and you are in one, cancel in Subscriptions before it ends and you are not charged. |
Pricing, trial length, and renewal terms are set out in full in our Terms of Use.
Troubleshooting
My position or speed is missing or wrong
Check that location access is granted: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services, find the app, and set it to While Using the App. Also confirm Location Services is on overall. GPS accuracy degrades under a hard top, inside a cabin, or in heavy weather; give the device a clear view of the sky and a minute to settle.
Weather or radar will not load
Weather, marine forecasts, alerts, and radar come live from the U.S. National Weather Service and NOAA. They require an internet connection, and they are occasionally unavailable during agency maintenance or outages. Offshore, cell coverage often drops before you notice. Load the forecast before you leave the dock, and always carry a VHF radio.
The map is blank or slow
Map tiles need a connection the first time they are viewed. Force-quit and reopen the app, then confirm you have signal. If it persists, restart the device and email us with your device model and iOS version.
The app crashes or freezes
Force-quit and reopen, then check for an app update in the App Store. If it still happens, tell us exactly what you were doing when it occurred — that detail is usually what lets us reproduce and fix it.
Report a data correction
Our reef, landmark, fishing-hole, channel, and point-of-interest data is curated, and local knowledge beats a database. If something is wrong, moved, or gone, tell us — we would genuinely rather know.
- What the entry is called in the app, and roughly where it appears.
- What is wrong: wrong position, wrong name, closed, removed, or missing entirely.
- The correct information, if you have it, and how you know.
Email corrections to support@dfr.guru. Fishing and boating regulations are a separate matter — those come from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and are the authoritative source. Always confirm current rules with FWC before you fish.
Report a hazard
This is the most valuable message you can send us, and we treat it ahead of everything else in the queue. New shoaling, a bar that has moved, a submerged obstruction, a collapsed piling, a ramp that is no longer safe to use — if you saw it, somebody else is about to run into it.
- Coordinates if you have them, or the nearest named point if you do not.
- The date you saw it. Water changes, and an undated report ages badly.
- Tide state and water level if you noticed, since a hazard at low water may be nothing at high.
- Whether you are reporting it from your own observation or repeating something you heard.
Send it to support@dfr.guru with HAZARD in the subject line. We add safety cautions with the date and the source attached, so other boaters can judge how fresh the information is.
This is not an emergency channel. Nobody monitors this inbox around the clock. If you are in trouble on the water, use VHF channel 16 and the Coast Guard.
Accessibility
Being readable on a moving boat in bright sun is the entire point of this product, so we treat accessibility problems as defects rather than requests. If something is hard to read, hard to reach one-handed, hard to hear, or does not work properly with VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, Reduce Motion or an external display, tell us and we will fix it.
- Which screen, and what you were trying to do.
- Any accessibility settings you have on.
- Whether it was in daylight glare, at night, or below deck.
Two things that help right now: the app honours the iOS text-size setting, and the setup guide walks through making everything larger. If that still is not enough, that is a problem worth hearing about.
Privacy and your data
Short version: our apps have no accounts, no tracking, no advertising, and no analytics, and we do not sell personal data. Because we hold nothing about you on our side, deleting the app removes the app’s local data. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy. Privacy questions go to support@dfr.guru.
Requirements
Boaters apps are native iOS apps for iPhone and iPad, distributed only through the Apple App Store. An internet connection is required for weather, radar, and first-time map loading. Location access is optional but needed for live position, distance, bearing, speed, and ETA. Minimum supported iOS version is listed on the app’s App Store page.
Safety notice. These apps are reference tools. They are not a substitute for official NOAA charts, licensed navigation equipment, current FWC regulations, or the judgment of a licensed boat operator. In an emergency on the water, hail the U.S. Coast Guard on VHF channel 16 or call 911. Do not use this app to summon help.
